Product Design and Craft

My second task involved using the company I explored in task one to create ideas for possible future products for the brand. Using Not on the High Street was useful as it allowed me to consider the brand diversifying into a new industry, that Sydney Romantics is already established in.  Within the sketches I decided to focus on the companies main selling points, their gift giving and wrapping that showcases the small businesses carried on their website. Also, I implemented white and black for the fabric colours to help both the brand and the other images representing it to stand out - symbolising the way the company helps their partners to. Brand and Authenticity

Module One  My first task involves selecting a brand that I identify with and explaining why. The brand that I decided to look into was Not on the high street, a British online store for small businesses. Since it was founded 10 years ago, NOTHS's company values have revolved around creating a community amongst small companies. This can be seen through their website, in which they call the small companies featured on their website their Partners and showcase their stories.  I identify with this value as it shows how a good team is built from connections and community building.  Similarly, the use of creativity and originality is shown throughout their website and company values as they wish to showcase their partners and help their customers to find the best possible gift. Overall, I identify with Not on the high street as it places focus on innovation, creativity and originality which is what I aim to be in my work environment as well as my personal life...

First virtual internship

Sydney Romantics  The first virtual internship that I have signed up for is Sydney Romantics which is Design and Branding!  I am hoping that this is a great way to stretch my creativity skills, pushing what I have learnt theoretically in an academic setting, into a live practical project.  The internship is split into four modules; Brand and Authenticity  Product Design and Craft Digital Marketing  Community Building  I will be posting my work as I complete each module and hope to show the hard work going into the project!

Who am I?

Hello! Before I start posting content, I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself a little bit.... Third year BA Marketing student at Birmingham City University Currently on track to achieve 1st overall The reason that I am starting this blog is to use it to show my module work that I am completing for Forage! For those who don't know this is platform which connects students with companies who are providing online virtual internships (which is amazing considering the current pandemic issues). My reason for signing up for this is to help me gain more practical experience, boosting my employability, and helping to further strengthen my portfolio to show alongside my academic studies. I will be updating this blog alongside my virtual internships! 👍
